Why We Are Looking for a Steel Structural Engineer
Remember those old Meccano sets? That’s essentially what we create for well-known companies like Bol.com, Kruidvat, DHL, and Wehkamp. Well, sort of. We design system structures that ensure their warehouses and sorting centers are used to their full potential.
Our company is growing rapidly. Even during the pandemic, we’ve received many new orders, especially from internet companies focused on online sales. That’s why we’re looking for a Steel Structural Engineer to support our team.

Your Challenge as Steel Structural Engineer
As a Steel Structural Engineer, you’ll work directly with the salesperson and Project Engineer. Based on drawings, you’ll select the right materials, assess structural reinforcements, and create presentable static calculations.
You’ll be at the forefront of every project, large or small! Due to the increasing complexity of our projects, we’re looking for someone with several years of experience as a Steel Structural Engineer.
Your Role:
- Join our project department, which includes our Sales team, five 3D Modelers, ten Project Engineers, and two fellow Structural Engineers, working closely together on larger projects.
- Once the Sales team hands over a project to a Project Engineer, you’ll use your technical expertise to create static calculations based on drawings. You’ll send the calculations for approval to the client, maintain communication with the reviewing party, and make revisions if needed.
- Depending on the client’s language, you’ll prepare your calculations in Dutch, English, or German, leveraging your knowledge of the Eurocode and Building Decree.
- Act as a sparring partner for fellow Structural Engineers and a go-to resource for Project Engineers, Management, and the Sales team on calculations and material selection.
- Use your insight and calculation skills to mitigate risks and optimize designs during the proposal phase.
- Contribute to Anera’s continuous development and innovation.
You’ll also maintain regular contact with colleagues regarding production and potentially custom design elements. Anera has its own welding, rolling, and coating facilities, although some production is outsourced. Throughout the calculation process, you’ll provide regular updates to the Project Engineer on progress.
As a Steel Structural Engineer, you’ll typically spend four days a week in the office managing projects. The remaining day is dedicated to on-site measurements, client visits, or supplier meetings.
Your Onboarding Process
During your onboarding, you’ll get to know our product and learn how we create drawings in Revit and perform calculations in SCIA. You’ll accompany a colleague to measure projects on-site, gaining hands-on experience with our product.
Why Work With Us?
- Fully utilize your technical expertise.
- A tailored onboarding process designed to match your personal knowledge, ambitions, and experience.
- Join a young, yet highly experienced and enthusiastic team with an average age of around 32.
- Deliver custom-made solutions for every project.
- Gain international work experience.
What’s Included
- Direct employment with Anera, with the intention of transitioning to a permanent contract as quickly as possible.
- A competitive salary that matches your education and experience.
- Excellent secondary benefits in line with the Metal & Technology Collective Agreement.
- Collaboration and learning in an enthusiastic and motivated team.
- Flexibility and responsibility in your work.
Your Profile
- You have a completed HBO degree in Civil Engineering.
- Strong communication skills, as you’ll need to interact at various levels as a Steel Structural Engineer.
- Familiarity with reading drawings and performing calculations in SCIA or similar software.
- Proficiency in English for international contacts; German is a great bonus.
Additionally, we value precision, teamwork, and a positive attitude. You enjoy working efficiently but also appreciate a good laugh now and then.
