Anera visits ArcelorMittal Gent: An impressive insight into sustainable steel production
On an inspiring day in Ghent, our team got a unique look behind the scenes at ArcelorMittal in Ghent. We discovered how our basic product is created, from the starting point: converting iron ore in blast furnaces to the final galvanized coil.
During this visit, not only were the technical processes shown, but the emphasis was also on the concrete steps that ArcelorMittal is taking to reduce the factory's CO₂ footprint. Think of making energy generation more sustainable, using process gases and even using waste wood as an alternative to fossil coal. In this way, residual flows are converted into valuable by-products such as ethanol.
In short, it was an impressive, enjoyable and educational day in which we as Anera gained a lot of valuable knowledge about our basic product and the savings that are possible through our Green Steel Program with XCarb coils.
