Hunkemoller DC
About the Project
In 2022, Anera was approached for a large-scale floor construction project for the new headquarters and distribution centre of Hunkemöller in the Netherlands. The new building was to be a future-proof combination of office space, storage capacity, and advanced automation.
For Anera, this meant a challenging and educational project not only because of its scale, but especially due to the integration of various systems, suppliers, and construction workflows.
Two Project Streams, One Result
A unique aspect of this project was that there were two clients involved: Hunkemöller itself and an external supplier of conveyor systems. Both parties commissioned separate parts of the structure. For Anera, this meant two project numbers, two delivery streams, but ultimately one shared end result.
The main challenge? The floor construction serves as an integral part of both the logistics storage and sorting systems, as well as the building itself. This required extensive coordination with the client, the building contractor, conveyor suppliers, and providers of facilities such as sprinklers, lighting, and ventilation.
Technical Structure of the Floor
The project comprised multiple levels:
- First floor (approx. 3,300 m²): served as a transit zone with conveyors and static storage. Part of the structure was also prepared for future expansion of the floor area.
- Second floor (approx. 6,900 m²): designed for automated order processing with robots, including order-picking stations.
The floor had to withstand different loads, tailored to storage, robotic traffic, and suspended constructions for conveyor systems.
Building Smart Solutions Together
Throughout the project, various situations arose that required both technical and logistical flexibility.
On the top floor, the robotic traffic demanded a stiff and wear-resistant floor construction. To achieve this, Anera supplied alternative floor panels and implemented noise-reducing measures at critical points.
Thanks to this combination of technical expertise, quick decision-making, and proactive collaboration with all parties involved, Anera was able to adapt to changing circumstances without compromising on quality, planning, or safety.
The Result
In total, Anera processed more than 27 kilometres of steel profiles. The structure was delivered in phases, averaging two truckloads per day. Tight scheduling was essential to prevent interference between different teams on site.
Upon completion, the Hunkemöller project team was visibly pleased. The project concluded with a joint evaluation and a team dinner. The building is now fully operational, and other clients have even been given guided tours to see Anera’s floor in action.
